A post-doctoral position in Aquaculture / Infectiology is available at the recently established Department of Animal Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Georg-August-University Goettingen.
The project is focussed on immunological/microbiological research in fish. We are currently investigating immunogenicity and immunomodulation of viral and bacterial fish pathogens post infection, immunoglobulin genes, and marker genes related to resistance against fish pathogens. A special interest is the development of immunoglobulin libraries and engineering of recombinant species-specific antibodies.
A wide spectrum of modern molecular biological and immunological methods will be used in the project. The Department of Animal Sciences of the University of Göttingen will offer excellent facilities, new technical equipment, and ideal working conditions in a multidisciplinary scientific field. The Department holds state of the art facilities for animal studies, flow cytometry/sorting, nucleic acid, DNA sequencing, and proteomics platforms. There is access to imaging units (TEM and confocal microscopy).
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate in one of the above-mentioned fields.
Eligibility
The successful applicant should hold a PhD degree in Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry or related natural and life sciences. We expect excellent knowledge in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, and microbiology of fish. Experiences in antibody engineering or library construction would be an advantage.
The postdoctoral position is available immediately. It is a full-time employment and limited for the duration of three years. An extension for further three years is optional and depending on the project evaluation. The salary is according to the German TV-L E13 level.
The University of Göttingen intends to enhance the percentage of women in areas, where women are underrepresented and invites qualified women to submit their applications.
Application
Severely disabled persons will be favored in case of equal qualifications.
