The Lee Kong Chian Graduate Scholarships (“Scholarships”) were established from donations received from the Lee Foundation and are the University’s most prestigious scholarship awards for graduate students.

The selection of candidates will take place once a year, in time for the start of the academic year in August.  Up to 5 new Scholarships will be given each year. Not all Scholarships will be awarded unless there are candidates of sufficient merit.

Eligibility
The Scholarships are open to students of all nationalities who gain admission to any Ph.D. programme at the University. In keeping with the donor’s wishes, the Scholarships will be awarded to well-rounded individuals showing exceptional promise who have an appropriate balance of intellect and character. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and a commitment to service.

An annual award will be given for the best Masters thesis on Sub-Saharan Africa by a student at a university in the Netherlands or in Africa.

Eligibility

  • Any final-year student who has completed his/her Masters thesis with distinction (80% or higher or a Dutch rating of at least 8  )can apply. Any thesis thematically related to socio-geographical, economic, political, juridical or anthropological issues or focusing on the humanities such as history, religion and literature (but with the exception of language and/or semiotic studies) can be submitted.
  • The thesis must be socially relevant and can be be written in English, French or Dutch.

The award consists of a price of 1000 euros. The winning thesis will also be published in the ASC African Studies

MBA Scholarships provided by the Republic of Cyprus for the academic year 2009-2010

The Republic of Cyprus is offering five (5) full scholarships of 12-months duration to study for the attainment of the University of Nicosia Master in Business Administration Programme for the academic year 2009-2010. Eligible candidates are citizens of Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Application Procedure
In order to submit an application for scholarship, the applicant must attain an official endorsement by his/her country`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs by completing the Endorsement Form, which must be submitted along with the application form (detailed instructions on the endorsement procedure are included in the endorsement form). The applicants must then submit their applications along with the endorsement form at a Competent Consular Authority of the Republic of Cyprus of their choice.

The deadline for the submission of applications is June 30, 2009.
