Job Description : Applications are invited for a JRF position in a Department of Biotechnology, (DBT) , Govt. of India, funded project to work on research proposal entitled “Chemical modification of some metal ion binding peptides with photoactive molecules, and investigation on their photoinduced DNA damage and photoenhanced antimicrobial activity” of Dr. Halan Prakash, Chemistry Group, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Goa Campus, Zuarinagar, GOA, 403 276.
Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemical Science/ Life Science or M.Tech (Biotech) with good academic records (Ist division). Candidates with NET (JRF/Lect) / GATE will be preferred.
Job Description and Desirable Qualification: Strong desire to work on Synthesis of photo-active molecules, peptide design, chemical modification of peptides. The works requires extensive use of HPLC for purification of modified peptides. Knowledge on HPLC, GC, routine molecular biology techniques including cloning and expression of proteins, and antimicrobial studies would be an advantage.
Emoluments: Rs.12, 000/- pm + HRA
Project Duration: Three years.

Established in 2009 by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC), the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD programs in Hong Kong’s institutions.
Eligibility
Those who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in UGC-funded institutions of Hong Kong, irrespective of their country of origin and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
The Fellowship
The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,0001 and a conference travel allowance of HK$10,0001 per year for the awardees for a maximum period of three years. 135 PhD Fellowships will be awarded for the 2010/11 academic year2.

Review Panels

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation, in cooperation with Waseda University in Japan, set up a one-year scholarship program for university undergraduates to study culture, history, society, politics, economics, geography, arts, literature and so forth of Japan and other parts of Asia. The scholarship program was established in 1995 to commemorate Singapore’s 30th Year of National Independence and the 5th Anniversary of JCCI Singapore Foundation.The Foundation hopes to provide young Singaporeans an opportunity to study in Japan through this program. Also, it wishes to promote further exchanges and cooperation between Singapore and Japan. The successful candidate is thus expected to play the role of a diplomat with the task of strengthening the bilateral relations.
